I will put Empathy into Action. As I mentioned in an early post, I will begin with a simple bulletin board that includes lessons on character traits. Moving forward however, helping my students realize not only their personal success through empathy but the betterment of society.
To achieve the above, we must teach our students to be find common ground with others, be active listeners, care about strangers and allow their imagination to soar. As teachers we can do all this by forming meaningful relationships, setting high exceptions, fostering decision making skills, linking curriculum to real-world and so much more.
