Play, passion, purpose: Tony Wagner at TEDxNYED

I really liked this video because it reminds me that learning should not just be about memorizing things. When students are able to explore, follow what they are interested in, and feel like what they are doing matters, they are way more engaged.
Wagner emphasizes that students learn best when they are exploring their interests and connecting their work to a larger purpose. I think it’s valuable because it inspires educators to create learning experiences that motivate students, develop critical skills, and encourage innovation and social impact.
This film appeals to me because it exposes viewers to intrinsic motivation, which entails completing a task because it is personally rewarding. Educators and parents can best develop intrinsic motivation through play, passion, and purpose. Teachers who encourage students and make time in each session for projects, research, and experimentation helps students discover their passions and grow as outstanding learners.
