Leaders have multiple roles whether it be collaboration, safety, reassurance, or trust.
Leaders are watched all the time. Good leaders keep the opinions of others in mind. They hear people's concerns. They don't let the power get to their head. They are level-headed and understanding. Just how our teachers should be.
Leaders should not view their followers as lower on a hierarchy. They should be the one who sets the example, despite the risk.
A leader should not simply boss around they should motivate others to do good and show growth in their life. The goal is too move forward positively and not negatively.
As a teacher you must be a great leader, which also means being open to collaboration, confidence, giving the sense of safety, etc.
It is important that every child in a classroom feels safe at every level possible whether that's personal, physical, or emotional. When one of those are unaccounted for that can dramatically change their ability to perform to the teachers' expectations. We know they can succeed but there is more that goes into it than just test scores and grades first and foremost we are human beings.
As leaders we should do more than just instruct others on things they need to do. Effective leaders collaborate, work well in teams, are confident, etc. We as educators should acquire strong and effective leadership skills to have a successful classroom.

An example of a good leader is not just one who is willing to send out bonuses at every holiday or has good communication with those they are leading, it is one that makes those they are leading feel comfortable with decisions they are making and feel like they are okay to make mistakes. I have had experiences with bosses that give holiday bonuses but aren't understanding at all if you make mistakes, and it is not fun at all, it is a very negative environment. An ideal environment would simply be a leader who is understanding of situations and works to maintain a positive work experience as much as possible.
The environment is very important as when you experience something you are likely to do what you have experienced. Therefore, if you experience a lot of collaboration you grow to trust others when you are raised in that situation. I have been raised in an environment where I am comfortable with my peers as I have very little negative experiences. The more positive experiences the more likely you are to repeat the behaviors present in those experiences. A leaders job is to maintain positive experiences where people are free to take risks. Safety is first priority.
Good leaders are those who are willing to make you feel safe. They care about those around them, and they are willing to step up. I once heard that a good leader would not ask you to do something that they themselves would not do. A good leader is willing to do the hard work. A team does what other would do for them. So, if everyone would go above and beyond for one another, that team has a greater chance at success.
