Our world is constantly changing and knowing what's going on in the world is crucial so that you as a teacher are able to teach the kids about things that are currently happening.
We as future teachers must understand that the world is continuing to change and we can adapt to make a positive future.

I personally enjoyed that it told us to learn to be adaptable, flexible, and to always leave room for improvement and growth as a educator. We should always be open and willing to change and learn different things. Learning from our mistakes is a good start to having a growth mindset.

Global Competence is a multi-dimensional construct that requires a combination of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values successfully applied to global issues or intercultural situations. I really enjoyed this article, and it really talks about why as educators we need to be able teach these global issues to students.
My favorite quote from this article is "The more relevant learning is, the better it is. Why wouldn’t we want to teach them something that makes the world a better place?" I absolutely love this statement because it is SO true. Teaching global competence and literacy is so important especially since it does nothing else but make the world a better place.

I like how the article mentions the idea of structured discussions, I think this is a great idea for the classroom. Asking questions and allowing students enage with one another is a great way to see what they know about the current events outside of the classroom.
This article gave a deeper understanding of understanding, as educators, what knowledge the students are actually obtaining, rather than gathering information through assessment.
The new assessment of global competence may not tell us everything we need to know. However, more testing may be require to understand of what the student is learning. I believe this will need to go into more deeper learning when comes to the outcome.
The article discussed current event discussions! I love this idea for the classroom. I had a professor last year that had "current events in education Fridays." We all had to have an article ready revolving around education to discuss. This was awesome because we learned about real time issues and events from one another. The discussion was real and thoughtful.
Assessments don't always tell what the student has learned, more in-depth analysis needs to be performed to better understand what was received by the student other than a single test.
I believe that deeper learning would be hard to capture on tests as stated, but there could possibly be other ways to capture that deeper learning.
I do think it's interesting that PISA tested for global competence in 2018; I would be curious to see those results. As was mentioned in the article though, I think it will be difficult to measure that deeper learning on a test.
